Jan. 1, 2022, marks the beginning of a new calendar year for the Kern County Health Plans. The open enrollment period for making changes begins Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, and runs through Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021. What is open enrollment? Open enrollment is your annual opportu- nity to make changes to your health plans without a permitting event. During this time you will be eligible to: ● Change/switch medical and/or dental plans. ● Enroll in benefits if you are not currently enrolled. ● Add/remove eligible dependents to your coverage. ● Decline/cancel your health coverage (if you meet cancellation criteria). ● Change your premium contribution status. ● Elect voluntary benefits (for active employees). This is a Health Savings Account (HSA) eligible plan. ● Kern Legacy MAX CHOICE features a 20% co-insurance and a low deductible utilizing the Anthem Blue Cross network of providers. ● Kern Legacy CLASSIC CHOICE features an in-network and out-of-network benefit utilizing the Anthem Blue Cross network of providers. The Kern Legacy Health Plans are self- insured health plans with claims paid directly by the County. They share preferred co-pays at Kern Medical; low- to no-cost generic drugs (after deductible); free preventive care options (deductible waived); and nationwide emergency services.
